Invest In Yourself To Continue Learning

In order to improve we need to keep learning.  But it’s not enough to learn new things, we must also be willing to ‘unlearn’ ineffective habits, behaviour and thinking.  We can even ‘unlearn’ ineffective feelings.

How?  Firstly we need to gain clarity on the way that we think and feel.  We are blessed with the most amazing minds.  Our mind is more powerful than any computer.  But as any computer programmer will tell you: ‘Garbage in, Garbage out’!  Gaining clarity of our thinking includes really understanding what we mean when we say what we say.  And also understanding what others mean when they say what they say, not merely our interpretation of what they mean.  Think you are clear? Want to test it?  Please define the word ‘Love’.  Maybe ask your partner to do the same.  How similar are your definitions?  If they are quite different (and very often they are) what does your partner hear when you say “I love you”?

Then there is clarity of our feelings.  What’s your understanding of what feelings are, and what purpose they have?  How wide is your emotional range?  How in tune with your feelings and others’ feelings are you?

Secondly, we need to become aware of our choices.  Where do you have choices?  Where do you not have choices?  Are there more choices that you are unaware of?  What’s the impact of the choices that you make.  What’s the impact of the choices that you don’t make?

How good are you at decision making? How do you measure whether the decisions you make are effective?

We believe that life will provide you with every lesson you will ever need throughout your lifetime.  However, there are two points about life lessons: One, they often come with some personal cost.  The bigger the lesson, the bigger and more painful is the personal cost (Divorce, bankruptcy, ill health).

Two, in most cases we had opportunities to learn the lesson on more than one occasion, before we finally did and had that huge price to pay.

On our Outlook course, participants learn a methodology to extract important life lessons without the personal cost.  They then can apply what they learnt in their everyday lives.

How and where you invest in yourself is up to you.  The more you do, the more fulfilment and happiness you will experience.
